Honeymoon Journal
Tuesday, May 30:
Another cold and rainy day. We went to Glastonbury, walked around the hippie fantasy shops there, visited the ruined abbey (where we made some crayon rubbings), and decided -- rather than walking up to the Tor -- to just have some tea and try to warm up, especially since Tom's cold was getting rather nasty.

We drove on to Wells, where we saw the cathedral (which, like Salisbury's, is still in use by the community). We walked along a gorgeous path outside the Bishop's Palace, following a moat filled with swans (and a swan bell), and caught evensong at the cathedral -- although, since it was summer, the choir was absent. The bishop led mass in a small side chapel, and it was interesting to note the differences in the ceremony. We had gone to the tourist center beforehand, expecting lodgings to be difficult to find during festival season, and put them to work finding us a B&B. They came up with an absolutely beautiful one, a four-diamond farm between Cheddar and Wells -- and we liked it so much that we decided to stay an extra night.
